Business and Public Administration lecturer at the University of The Gambia (UTG) has urged political leaders to be ambassadors of peace.
Lecturer Gitteh tasked the country’s political leaders to always concentrate on nurturing peace and stability in the country.
Reacting to the strained relations between some political leaders, Lecturer Gitteh told The Voice: “The most important thing known by the Gambians is peace. Our leadership should communicate issues that will enhance peace among Gambians and people living in the country. We are already living in a hard time as a country, starting from education, health, security, the economy, and more.”
He asserted that it’s everyone’s responsibility to improve and contemplate how the country can improve on the above issues rather than concentrating on “irrelevant issues or comments”.
Gitteh said Gambians should always draw inspiration from the national anthem.
“We should respect this(national anthem) and it should manifest in our behavior as a nation, especially from the leadership. That way, the followers will be inspired to continue to be good citizens,” he admonished.
The UTG lecturer stressed that self-centredness will never help any individual, society, organization, or country to grow.
“Let’s redirect our attention to things that can help us to develop, put hearts together for the interests of The Gambia,” Gitteh advised leaders.
