An ex-student of Banjulinding Senior Secondary School Alfred Bajabou has invented an aircraft aimed at discouraging illegal migration to Europe.
“Thousands of youths have died in the seas and many have abandoned our rich African continent because of their search for greener pastures in Europe,” Alfred Bajabou explained in an interview with The Voice.
The Sibanor-born Bajabou disclosed that his invention was not only aimed at discouraging youths from embarking on the dangerous irregular migration to Europe but also to show the world that Africans have great potential.
He noted that with focus and determination, one can succeed in The Gambia.
According to Bajabou, he used irons, wood, empty rice bags, and bicycle wheels to build the aircraft, noting that he is optimistic about launching it if completed as expected.
Though not yet complete, Bajabou spent two years and over D30,000 to build the aircraft to be launched as an exhibit.
”Therefore, I am calling on philanthropists, NGOs, individuals, and the government for support in attaining my desired goals of inventing a functional aircraft to be called Sibanor 1,” he pleaded.
