A CCTV camera has captured a towering tall man stealing cash at a mini-market in Old Jeshwang.

The workers at the mini-market, located around the Old Jeshwang car park along the Banjul Highway, reported to work on Sunday morning only to find out that over D200,000was carted away from the shop, this medium gathered.

This medium was also informed that the burglar stole mobile phones from the mini market.

“One of the phones was traced to Kanifing. Someone said the phone was found on a Kanifing street, “one of our interlocutors said.

One of the workers at the mini-market told The Voice that the burglary may have occured on Sunday from 3am onwards.

Meanwhile, a fish shop in the same area was also reportedly burgled few days ago.

Nearly two years ago, businessman Bourgi was reportedly held at gun-point by armed robbers in same area of Old Jeshwang.

Huge amount of cash, gold items and other valuables were reportedly stolen in that alleged armed robbery.

Some business owners along the Old Jeshwang Prison road have expressed concern and fear over last week’s double-burglaries.

“The security authorities should now consider up-scaling night patrol around this area of Old Jeshwang, especially from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. We are now really worried because criminals seem to have brought their nefarious activities to our doorsteps now,” one of the shop owners, who spoke to The Voice on condition of anonymity for fear of his safety, stated.

A similar view has been reechoed by some residents of the area.

Many residents were struggling to process the developments in their area last week.
