Court Adjourns Case for Lack of Witness

Principal Magistrate Mben Faal of the KanifingMagistrates’ Court Tuesday adjourned the case of IgweIheme to 28th December when his witness is expected to appear.

Appearing before the court, Gift John, the accused person pleaded not guilty when the charge sheet was read out, she said: ‘’I didn’t break any Bwinnermachine.’’ 

According to the particulars of the alleged offense, Gift John on 23th day of August at Bakoteh, willfully destroyed BWinner machine valued at twenty-five thousand Dalasis (D25,000.00) being the property of Igwe Iheme.

Meanwhile, the prosecutor W/CPL2231 L. Gibbaasked Igwe whether he would be able to recognize his machine when it was shown he answered ‘’yes’’. He stated that he has no problem with the accused. ‘’I was attending to my customers while I saw Gift John from the other side of the road carrying hot water which she suddenly poured on my materials and all my items were scattered on the floor. Then I rushed to the police station and reported the matter. When the  policequestioned the accused person what was the problem she told them that I was gossiping her name .

However, the case was mentioned in court at 11am because the defender was not present in court at time, the magistrate had to raise up for ten minutes before the case will be called again for continuation.

The magistrate later adjourned the case to 28th of December 2023 at 12:30 for continuation of the case.
