The Deputy Leader of Gambia Action Party (GAP), Abubacarr Bayo, has debunked grave allegations of business dishonesty against his boss- Musa OusainouYali Batchilly, the Leader of GAP as it has been paraded in the media and in some quarters of society.
‘’ This is the first time Batchilly ventured into this as a Travel Agency owner by arranging a passenger flight to the United States (US) transiting Istambul,Turkey where unfortunately passengers including Gambians were deported to Gambia, and Batchilly endeavored to charter a direct flight to the US to salvage the situation’’, he told The Voice in an online exclusive interview.
Mr. Bayo further clarified that some flight passengers made cash payment to some agents of Batchilly’sTravel Agency with receipts issued. But unfortunately there was a delay on the side of the contracted flight, when some of the passengers demanded refunds via the media instead of directly engaging the agents they paid to.
GAP Deputy Leader confidently confirmed when asked that GAP is not smeared neither implicated in the allegations surrounded the party Leader, as Mr. Batchilly is still the party Leader and Secretary General respecting the laws of the land with a political agenda for 2026 presidential election.
“We are calling on all GAP militants to stay calm as the rumors about our leader absconding is false and baseless. He never obtained money from people by false pretense. It’s a business and anyone can do business. When the people demanded refunds, they were refunded that was the necessary part of it,” he stressed.
He also reaffirmed their party’s commitment to nation-building, saying is still on track, and encouraged all their party’s militants not to be distracted by any social media propaganda or defamation of their party leader and braced up for 2026 presidential race to State House.
Mr. Batchilly, who diluted his political career with business, runs a Travel Agency called ‘Red Carpet Solution’ in The Gambia with operations inclusive flight arrangement.
It could be recalled that the GAP leader Musa OsainouYali Batchilly was arrested on November 2, 2023, and was interrogated and charged with obtaining goods by pretense and conspiracy to commit felony.
