Modou Musa Sissaho, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Gambia Police Force (GPF) has said in Gambia that GPF cannot comment on the alleged legal action proposal against GPF and the National Roads Authority (NRA) posted on Facebook by the Chairman of Brikama Area Council (BAC) Yankuba Darboe.
Mr. Sissaho made this statement to the press during the ongoing ‘road clearing ‘exercise in Brikama backed by Gambia government. ‘’ What we know is that we are part of a task force and our job is to enforce the law and that is what we have been doing in KMC and here in Brikama’’, he emphasized.
GPF spokesperson further asserted that they have been facing stiff resistance from people including the affected ones even though they were adequately informed earlier to leave the already identified areas for the ‘ clearing exercise’ and Police has no option but to effect arrest and handed the suspects over to Banjuinding Police Station for interrogation.
“At the level of the task force we do not see any implications of the chairman’s comments as far as our deliberation is concern,” he stressed.
Chairman Yankuba Darboe was recently reported to have posted on Facebook that the Council (Brikama Area Council) had agreed to take legal action against GPF and NRA.
