Gambia Army Force (GAF) Intake 28 (A) Family Association operating under the Umbrella body of the Gambia Army Force GAF over the weekend held the first ever successful Annual General Meeting at Joint Officers Mess in Kotu.
The event was presided over by the Director of Operation at GAF LT. Colonel Omar Bojang on behalf of the Chief of Defense Staff CDS.
Delivering a speech, Mr. Lamin Badjie, Vice President of GAF Intake 28 (A) Family Association explained that the association was formed on the bed rock of solidarity, peace and unity amongst its intake mates.
He cited that membership was based on a common bond of soldiers enlisted into GAF in May, 2006. Eventually, in 2019, the association was formed called GAF Intake 28 A Family Association.
According to him, the sole objective of the association is to help each other in time of need, dead or alive.
He made it categorically cleared that the association is not, was not and will not involve itself in politics, religious intolerance or / tribal bigotry. “We built the association on a common bond of intake mates and we have a legal instrument which guides our activities.’’ Mr. Badjie stated.
He added that that enabled the association to register tremendous achievements during the period under review.
“These achievements could not have been possible if not these dedicated and committed executive members who made this possible,” he emphasized.
He cited that all these achievements were made possible through the fatherly guidance of Mr. Hussein Managing Director of Africell who championed most of their key activities such as fundraiser, AGM and many more.
Mr. Sulayman Colley, Secretary General of GAF Intake 28 A Family Association also made similar remarks dilating on when the association was established in 2019. He explained how they help each other when the need arises. Also, how they raise fund through contribution and the like.
He further stated that in order to enhance good governance and best practice, the association designed a guiding or working tool, which is its constitution. ‘’Most importantly, to achieve the desired objectives as stipulated in the constitution, we decided to register the association at the AG Chambers to become a legally recognize entity.’’ Mr. Colley stated.
