Think Equal Project Trains ECD Teachers on Narrative, Positioning Teaching

Think Equal Project under the supervision of FIOHTG has over the weekend this year concluded a one-day training of fifty (50) ECD Level 12 teachers on the significance of early years of education, narrative and positioning teaching. 

In her opening statement  before the  commencement of the training at Saint Peter’s Lower Basic School in Lamin, the Project Manager of Think Equal Project Aminata Ceesay, informed her audience that the their project is a pilot in The Gambia with the aim to teach peace, social justice and emotional learning .

Think Equal, she said is to transform lives via Social-Emotional Learning for Wellbeing, psychosocial, support and social justice. ‘’ We have a chance to make a profound impact in The Gambia’’, she evaluated.  Manager Ceesay added that education, women empowerment, community, advocacy, are the intervention areas of FIOHTG  with special interests in global burning issues such as climate change , gender, health, literacy  and among  others. 

Kebba Jobe, from the School Development Unit, FIOHTG, stated that the unit has conducted series of in-service training across the country in early grade reading ability since its inception in 2009.

Amadou Sambou, manager of the School Development Unit expressed delight and appreciation for gracing the event, confirming that Think Equal Project calls for social emotional learning and to inculcate right attitudes in the children.

Think Equal is a global initiative that addresses root causes of human rights violations across the world by breaking the cycle of violence, negative stereotypes, and discrimination through preventative interventions by using Social Emotional Learning (SEL) for social justice to teach values and pro-social competencies which engender empathy, self-esteem and respect for the dignity, value and equality of others.
