Semlex resumed work on Tuesday after a brief hiatus.
The company recently stopped operations, demanding the renewal of its contract.
The deputy spokesperson of the GID, Inspector Muhammed Bah, said Semlex on Tuesday started producing national identity cards, residential permits (Ecowas and non-Ecowas), none Gambian ID Card (Senegalese nationals), alien cards (non Ecowas mainly for Europeans and Asians and Americans).
He explained that the contract did not include passports, saying it only affected the national identity card, residential permit, non-Gambian ID card, alien card, and driver’s license. Inspector Bah said GID was issuing passports even after Semlex’s previous contract ended.
