One Mariama Jallow from Brufut appeared before Brusubi Magistrates’ Court for an alleged murder of Cherno Manneh.
However, when Mariama Jallow was called to the dock before Magistrate Isatou Nahra, the lead prosecuting Officer ASP Oley Bobb said Jallow stands accused of a single count of murder contrary to Section 187 of the Criminal Code Cap 10 Volume 3, Laws of The Gambia.
Relying on Section 62 of the Criminal Procedure Code, ASP Bobb applied for the matter to be transferred to the High Court.
ASP Bobb also pleaded with the court for Jallow to be place in custody pending the hearing and determination of the matter at the High Court.
Magistrate Nahra granted the applications of prosecutor Bobb and ordered for Jallow to be remanded.
It could be recalled that Mariama Jallow on 29 November 2023 at Brufut at Brufut Santosu in West Coast Region of the Republic of The Gambia with malice aforethought caused the death Cherno Manneh by stabbing him with a knife on his chest.
