He congratulated compatriots for their unity and steadfastness to the cause of The Gambia.

“When I came and saw the mosque (center), what I saw isa sign of unity, faithfulness, and belief in religion. You’re united. To be able to get this type of facility in New York is proof of unity. I thank every citizen for their donation and those who contributed their dollar for you to be able to acquire this property for this generation and generations yet unborn,” he acknowledged.

The deputy speaker’s US trip comes at a time whenleaders of the Gambian community in the US are implementing projects for young Gambians in the US to learn their language and culture.

“We must be ready to learn and practice our culture and tradition. A man without culture is a man without life,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, deputy speaker Njie said President Barrow is committed to propelling The Gambia to a higher height indevelopment terms.

“President Adama Barrow is committed to transforming The Gambia. Politics is about positivity. It’s about telling people the truth. It’s about being accountable for your actions and deeds. As President, he believes that the people of The Gambia gave him an absolute mandate in 2016 and also in 2021. And as a government, we are committed to being equal to the task and to the assignment that you gave us to be in charge of your money. That is to usher in development,” the deputy speaker pointed out.

“He [President Barrow] has the National Development Plan from 2023 to 2027 and among them is to usher in unprecedented infrastructural development. He wants to be remembered for road infrastructure. He wants to be remembered for energy and electricity to each and every hamlet in The Gambia,” he added.

According to him, many development projects are currently being implemented across the country because the President is fighting corruption and financial indiscipline. “President Adama Barrow is fighting corruption and he is fighting financial indiscipline. Because of that, for the first time in the history of The Gambia, all these road projects that I am talking about, the president is able to construct them through the Gambian Local Fund(GLF),” he stated.

The deputy speaker meantime exhorted Gambians in the US to respect the country’s laws.

“Continue to be united. You’re here [and please do] abide by the laws of the United States,” he entreated.
