The Belgian Friends of The Gambia (BFoTG) recently presented medical and educational items to New Yundum Health Centre and Lower Basic School in the West Coast Region.
The presentation of the items was held at both the New YundumHealth Centre and school premises on different occasions.
Speaking at the presentation ceremonies, Patrick De Vos, the chairman of the Belgian Friends of The Gambia (BFoTG), expressed his organization’s gratitude to the health center and school staff for the warm welcome they accorded his team members.
He informed the health center and school authorities staff that they are sponsoring 280 students from Nursery to senior secondary schools throughout the country.
The chairman used the occasion to renew their pledge. He promised that next year his organization will ship in a container to the country with medical items purposely meant for New Yundum Health Centre.
“This year, we brought the following medical items to New Yundum health center namely: computers, hygienic pads for women, baby clothing, wheelchairs, bandages, items for treating sounds,” Mr. Vos named some of the items.
According to him, his organization saw the need for the health facility to be well equipped with medicaments.
The BFoTG also made a similar presentation to students who are currently under its sponsorship packages to the following schools – Latri-Kunda Sabiji Upper Basic School, St. Therese’s Lower Basic School, Bakoteh Upper Basic School, NyodemaNursery School, Bakoteh Annex Lower Basic School, BakotehProper Lower Basic School.
The team members used the opportunity to visit the organization’s project sites across the West Coast Region, while the organization started up a Computer Lab at St. Therese’s Lower Basic School.
