Ebrima Danso, a young Gambian Thursday pleaded guilty of assaulting one Isatou Kujabi by hitting her with a metal stick on her right lower jaw.
He appeared before Kanifing Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty when the charge sheet was readout to him.
Consequently, Magistrate Touray ordered Danso to pay D3000 for compensation and D5000 to the state and failure to pay will make him serve one year in prison.
Narrating the fact of the case, Prosecutor Keita stated that the complainant bought a white veil for her daughter from the shop of the accused person and took it at home. On reaching home, the complainant showed the veil to her daughter who told her that white veils were not allowed in her school. So, the next day, Isatoureturned the white veil to the shop of the accused person wanting to change.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor further revealed that the accused person later came in and started insulting the complainant and eventually pushed her from the shop. He added that the accused person also hit the defendant with a metal stick and caused injury to her lower jaw. The matter was reported at the SerekundaPolice Station.
However, accused person begged to the court for mercy and also the defendant for forgiveness.
