The decamped former UDP campaign manager Momodou Sabally has said he’s 100% committed to the NPP.
Mr. Sabally declared his unalloyed support for President Adama and the NPP shortly after meeting the Gambian leader at the Presidency on Thursday.
The erstwhile UDP chief propagandist on Wednesday sent his letter of resignation to the Gambia’s largest opposition party and was at the Presidency yesterday, where he addressed the media.
“I am committed to the agenda of the leader of this great party and his executive. Yesterday, I tendered my resignation from the United Democratic Party and formally communicated to Hon. Ousainou Darboe and has accepted my decision. I want to be on the record to say that I am eternally grateful to Hon. Lawyer Ousainou Darboe and the members of the greatUnited Democratic Party. Words cannot express my depth of gratitude for the love, solidarity, and support that the leadership and members of the United Democratic Party has shown me over the past years. And, I have decided to move on to join the National People’s Party under President Barrow and I can assure everybody, friends relatives and followers that as from today, I am 100 percent committed to the NPP,” Sabally, flanked by NPP top-brass, said.
“I will do everything to support the agenda, policiesand programmes of the National People’s Party under the guidance of President Barrow and the distinguished executive members of the party,” he added.
According to Sabally, his motivation for foraying into politics is rooted in his quest for development.
“I want to assure all Gambians that I am in politics for the development of the country. Any political party I join, the joining of that political party is not an end initself. It is a means to an end and that end is the progress and development of The Gambia. And, I believe that President Barrow and his team can move that agenda forward but they cannot do it alone. President Barrow has said that he wants everybody on his team. I am calling on those people, who believe in me, to join this bandwagon for peace, progress, and development. President Barrow has said that he wants the best for this country. I have assured him that I will do my best to make sure that he delivers the best for this country because this country deserves no less,” he stated.
