Macca Masireh PIU Station Lacks Vehicle for Patrol Says Hon. Touray

By Binta Jaiteh

The lack of patrolling vehicles has been stated as one of the major things hampering the service of the Police Intervention (PIU) Station in Macca Masireh village in Wuli, Upper River Region.

Making this known to the relevant authorities and the public is Honourable Suwaibou Touray, a National Assembly Member for Wuli East Constituency who spoke during an interview with this reporter on Wednesday.

The member in an interview with him, revealed that the station lacks a vehicle for their routine patrol and they are operating in a hostile environment experiencing frequent attacks.

He said it is a big constraint they are facing noting that their presence is cherished by the local people because at least it has reduced the armed robbery.

“The government should look into their transport issue to allow them to operate effectively. Patrolling on a motorcycle is dangerous for security personnel,” Honourable Touray lamented.

According to this PDOIS lawmaker, Hon Touray, asserted that during the old regime, armed robbers attacked the village they came from Senegal across the border to attack because the border is porous.

He stressed that the government took the PIU to Macca Masireh to protect the border but they could not build a station for them.

The people of Wuli, he stated, found it a big challenge and that is why they decided to put some funds together to build a station for them where they operate now.

Pointing direction to Baja Kunda, Touray highlighted that those people or communities also their Fire and Rescue Station lacked Fire Ambulances for more than one year to rescue the community when there is any fire outbreak in the catchment areas including Wuli East, Wuli West, and Sandu.

However, the Water projects which are also meant to provide facilities for Foday Kunda, Sare Bohum, Wellingara Yareh, Sare Gubu, and Gunjur Koto under the African Development Bank loan are still stagnant since when they were drilled in 2023.
