The construction of a 14 KM road from Basse via Demba Kunda to Gambisara is progressing steadily while road users are commending President Adama Barrow and his government for their foresight.
Though the construction is currently affecting the free movement of goods and services, residents and commuters of these areas say it worth it. The road work is contracted to Gai Construction Company and with the construction of this road, they said it takes them less to reach Basse to transact their businesses and attend to other matters.
Speaking to The Voice in Basse recently, Jula Touray and Muhammed Jagana from Demba Kunda Kuruban hailed the government for their foresight in the construction of vital roads, noting that people suffered a lot in the past due to poor road network.
The duo called on Gambians to support the development efforts of the government and promote peace and security. The road users said now it took them 10 minutes to transact their daily businesses with the accessible road to Basse District Hospital.
Foday Sanyang, a Youth Leader of Basse Manneh Kunda said the construction of roads via Manneh Kunda would contribute to facilitate and contribute to socio-economic development and job creation. He urged youths to make the best use of the opportunities available in the country to enable them to harness their potential,
He challenged commercial motorcycle drivers to uphold road safety and ensure that proper and standard helmets are used at times to save lives.
