Alleged Pipeline Rapist’s Case toContinue

By Fatoumatta J. Camara

The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court will next week continue hearing in the rape trial of a certain Ebou Ceesay of Pipeline.

Ceesay allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl at Pipeline.

The victim’s sister in her testimony on Wednesday said she suspected that her sister was pregnant.

“One Sunday, I asked her to come and sit with me at the main gate to chat. Later, I told her to escort me to the hospital to check if I had an infection. Upon our arrival at the hospital, I tricked her by telling her to sit and wait for me to prevent herfrom listening or hearing what I wanted to tell the ticket seller at the hospital. I explained to the ticket seller that I wanted to conduct a pregnancy test on my sister but the seller replied that Ineeded to talk to the doctor,” she narrated.

She explained that the doctor subsequently conducted the test and confirmed that her sister was pregnant.

“I asked my sister about the person responsible for the pregnancy. She was quiet for a while and later told me that it was Uncle Ebou Ceesay; the man who lives around the Pipeline,” she explained.

She said she asked her how it happened and she replied that one of the sisters sent her on an errand and on her way back home,he met the accused, Ebou Ceesay, and greeted him. The witness adduced that her sister informed her that Ceesay asked her to follow him to his house as there was a particular thing in his house that belonged to her house.

“She [the victim] said he instructed her to sit down in the parlorwhile he went to the inner room and later came out with a towel and a key. My sister [the victim] said she asked him why he washolding his keys and Ceesay responded that she is young and asked her why is she having doubts and from there my sister said he locked the door and raped her,” she testified.

The case resumes on 16 November 2024.
