GNPC Gives D2M Boost to Gambia’s AFCON Campaign, Beat Fuel Prices Down

By: Sandally Sawo

The Gambia National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has given a huge financial boost to the Gambia’s AFCONS campaign by donating D2M to the AFCON National Coordinating Committee.

The oil and gas company also announced it would reduce D1 from pump prices of fuel throughout the tournament as a show of encouragement and solidarity with Gambians as they look forward to a respectable performance by the Scorpions in the AFCON.

GNPC is a State-owned company established to maximize the benefit from the country’s hydrocarbon resources in an efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly manner that will enhance and contribute to the growth of the country’s national wealth.

The GNPC Director of Commerce, Sadibou Jammeh, said that as a National Oil Company, it is GNPC’s corporate, social responsibility to support a worthy national cause such as the national team’s participation at the Afcon.

“We have also initiated a discount promo of one Dalasi for all customers for every litre bought from GNPC, effective January 15 to February 11, 2024. This support and special discount are part of a bigger initiative by GNPC to adopt and support Scorpions as a national product. The company seeks to become the main official sponsor of the Scorpions in the future,” Jammeh revealed.

He said the company also wants to become a household name in national development, especially in the area of football.

“We also want to develop grassroots football and build lasting partnerships with GFF and the government at large,” he disclosed.

Jammeh said the company is working on a number of initiatives aimed at repositioning itself as a leading oil corporation in The Gambia and the sub-region.

“We have a lot of pipeline initiatives to ensure we achieve all these plans and programs. I want to appeal to all Gambians to continue to support our giant national oil company as GNPC is here to support our national development endeavours,” Jammeh said.
