The newly- coronated Chief of Brikama North, Lamin Mundo Jatta, has advised against party politics as far as national development is concerned.
The chief came up with the advice following his coronation over the weekend during a ceremony held at his residence in Brikama Jalambang.
Addressing the gathering at the coronation, Chief Jatta said: ‘’Everyone should play a part in trying to unite ourselves to achieve the goals of better Brikama North District, a developed constituency, and more importantly a developed Gambia.’ ’He added: “Politicsis now over. Our focus should now be on nation-building. It is important to note that every party militant irrespective of one’s political affiliation is now under my governance from today as far as the powers of Chief are concerned. I have just been sworn to the oath of office by the governor of the West Coast Region.”
Chief Lamin Mundo Jatta further urged the people of Brikama North to support the development agenda of President Adama Barrow so that the district can also benefit optimally from President’s development programs.
The colorful ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the Gambia National Assembly, Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, Minister of Justice, Hon. Dawda Jallow, Governor of the West Coast Region, Ousman Bojang, political adviser to the President, Saihou Mballow, Chiefs of various districts, Alkalolu and other dignitaries.
The Brikama North chief congratulated the Presidenton winning the Africa Peace Award.
Chief Jatta advised the youth to remain steadfast and tolerant of their parents and steer away from crime.
