Dr. Jagne Gives Reasons for Decamping to PDOIS

By Binta Jaiteh

Former secretary general and leader of the All People’s Party (APP) said he switched allegiance to the PDOIS because the party is incorruptible.

He explained that PDOIS is not susceptible to corruption, adding that the party eschews nepotism.

“I was motivated to join the party because they are not corruptible and all these are good reasons which motivated me to support the party,” Dr. Jagne told The Voice in an interview.
According to the former APP leader, PDOIS has a knowledge-based political ideology derived from truly focused and unwavering leadership. “PDOIS has principles, a constitution, and a manifesto that clearly determines what you really want to be involved in,’’ he stated.
Dr. Jagne asserted that PDOIS is the only party in The Gambia that has two ideologies of regaining “our destiny to build on liberty and prosperity and to regain our self-esteem and changing our mindset for a complete overhaul of the neo-colonial yoke.’’

He asserted that those politicians jumping from one party to the other are political prostitutes, seeking personal goals, especially pecuniary interest.

The former APP SG said Gambia’s development was stymied by a lack of foresight since the PPP era.
“Jawara’s government has a tremendous opportunity like Jammeh’s government and Barrow’s government to change The Gambia forever. Unfortunately, Jawara’s government wanted to maintain the status quo. That is to say, they wanted to maintain what the European imperialists left in the country. We still have the neo-colonialist system, meaning we are still enslaved,” Dr. Jagne asserted.

The APP leader said the 2016 Coalition of Opposition Parties could be rekindled in 2026.

“A similar situation could arise. Maybe in 2026,the opposition should come back together and make a united force under one banner of alliance to contest in the elections,” he concluded.
