Forex bureaus in the Kanifing Municipality on Tuesday closed shop following the gruesome murder of a forex bureau staff at Westfield on Friday.
The strike was called by the Association of Licensed Forex Bureaus (ALFOB) and the call was largely heeded in the Kanifing Municipality as almost all forex bureaus in one of the country’s most densely populated local government areas shuttered their doors to customers.
The grinding strike came almost three days after a Senegalese national reportedly stabbed a female bureau staff multiple times, leading to her death.
The strike has engendered frustrations in many quarters as customers could be seen moving from one forex bureau to another but could not lay their hand on cash as nearly all the bureaus in the municipality were behind key and lock.
