Mr.Abubakary Jawara, CEO of GACH Global Group has launched D1.5 million nationwide Quranic competitions for young people naming the trophy after his late father, Ba-Jaeja Jawara.
The opening ceremony, held at Imam Malick School in Kanifing, was graced by dignitaries from all walks of life, especially Islamic scholars.
Over 500 Quranic students from across the country will participate in this Quranic recitation contest.
According to organizers, the competition will start on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Kerewan, North Bank Region, where 32 Quranic students will be selected to be followed by Janjanbureh, Gambisara, Mansakonko, and West Coast Region at the Supreme Islamic Council grounds and the Masjid Bilal Boarding School, respectively.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, the founder and owner of the Masjid Bilal Boarding School, Sheikh Essa Jawara, expressed hope of seeing a brighter future for the younger people of the country in reading the Holy Quran.
Dr. Ali Jagana stated that Mr.Abubakary Jawara funded the programme because of his love for Islam and the country, praying that Allah continues to guide and protect him while calling on the rich to emulate him.
Dr. Ousman Jah, an executive member of the Supreme Islamic School, commended Mr. Jawara for funding the Quranic competition, adding that heaven is guaranteed for those who invest their money in the ways of Allah.
For his part, Yusupha Jawara, deputy CEO of GACH Global Group, explained how it all started with their late father, who has lived and served his lord throughout his life and also dedicated his life to helping the poor and the needy, with whom he is blessed.
He said their late father of blessed memory loved the Quran and its teachings and came up with such a legacy that will go down in blessed history.
