Muhammed Jambai, a resident of Brikama Mesira, Thursday appeared before Magistrate Fatou Darboe of the Brikama magistrates’ court for causing grievous harm to his biological father, Lamin Jambai.
Coporal 4906 Bangura announced his appearance for the Inspector General of Police while the accused person was not represented by a lawyer.
Muhammed Jambai is answering to the charge of ‘grievous bodily harm’ contrary to section 214 of the criminal code cap 10:01 volume III Laws of The Gambia.
According to the indictment, the accused unlawfully stabbed one Lamin Jambai ( father of the accused) on his stomach, causing him grievous harm. The incident happened on the 31st day of December 2023 at Brikama Mesira.
The accused denied the charge against him and further told the court that if he had done it, then he could not remember stabbing his father.
Bangura then applied for adjournment to enable the prosecution to secure its witness in the matter.
Magistrate Fatou Darboe granted the applicationmade by the prosecution and adjourned the matter to 7th January for witness testimony to commence.
