The spokesperson of the NPP Seedy S.K. Njie has rolled out a welcome mat for the former UDP NAM for Kombo East following his resignation from the Gambia’s main opposition party.
NAM Abdou Sowe tendered his resignation letter to the UDP on Monday, saying he’d concluded that it was in his best interest to discontinue his association with the party after careful consideration and thorough reflection,
Shortly after tendering his resignation letter, the NPP mouthpiece took to social media to thank Sowe for quitting UDP.
“Your decision to quit your party, the United Democratic Party((UDP) immediately is indeed a bold decision based on right reasoning and your faithfulness to the best interest of not only you as you have put it but the country as a whole,” said the NPP image-maker. “This piece of news is supremely welcomed by the National People’s Party and our doors are wide open. Your wealth of expertise and experience will add value to our great party once you are admitted. NPP is a party of equality and our mantra, ‘national cohesion, tolerance, peace, prosperity and progress’, is the chief cornerstone for all our members and followers.”
Meanwhile, NAM Sowe said his decision to quit the UDP was a difficult one.
“Please know that this decision was not reached easily. I have dedicated countless hours advocating for the UDP and its causes. However, I believe that by stepping away from the party, I will have the freedom to explore alternative avenues for making a meaningful contribution to public life,” he said in his resignation letter to the party.
