Dobo Lower Basic School in Central Baddibu has been grappling with an acute water shortage for almost five years now, this reporter gathered.
The school has issued a distress call to humanitarian organizations, institutions, and NGOs to support it with a standard borehole, submersible water pump, and solar controller to address the water problem. Speaking to The Voice on Saturday, the Headteacher of Dobo LBS, Amadou Jallowexplained that the water dearth has been affecting 344 schoolchildren.
According to him, the pumping machine and solar controller have been damaged since 2019, adding that the issue had been posing a huge challenge to the school’s administration as there were no proper toilet facilities and kitchen. He, therefore, solicited support from development partners as, according to him, the school outsources water from the community. This, he said, affects students as it’s time-consuming.
The head teacher capitalized on the moment to appeal for the rehabilitation of the school’s infrastructure to facilitate teaching and learning.
Meanwhile, in its quest to promote the educational development of children, Dobo LBS is running an Early Childhood Development (ECD) center to prepare children for primary education.
