APEHOG Elects New Executive

The Association of Public and Environmental Health Officers of The Gambia (APEHOG) elected a new executive at its congress held on Saturday at theconference hall of the Gambia Teachers’ Union in Banjul.

Mr. Sarja Jarjusey has been elected as APEHOGPresident, Mr. Bakalilu Kijera as the vice president and Mr.Nans Keita as the secretary-general in an election described as free and fair.

The association’s constitution, audit and activity reportshave been reviewed during the congress. 

APEHOG member Abdou Saho said the end of the tenure of executives “is to honor heroes, champion health and conclude a legacy of leadership”.

“It seeks to promote proactive health promotion, calls for a holistic and balanced approach to health and equally honors the contributions of individuals who have contributed in the field of public health,” he said. 

He added that the theme also sought to motivate group effort and promote a sense of accountability for the welfare of people and communities.

“In the interim, in the realm of public health, we celebrate the conclusion of a legacy of the Nuha Fofana-led executive,” Saho stated.
