Prosecutors are now trying to establish guilt against a certain Musa Sawaneh after they slammed seven counts of burglary against him.
Musa appeared before Magistrate Dunn Njie at the KanifingMagistrates’ Court on Thursday to answer seven counts of break-in and theft brought against him by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The court heard that Musa broke the store of one Rohey Sowe in January of this year at Kanifing South with the intent to commit a felony therein-to wit-stealing.
The court also heard that Musa in the same month and place stole a gallon of Armanti mayonnaise valued at D1,200, a five-litre gallon of cooking oil valued at D600, and a bucket of Jadida butter valued at D950. The stolen items were the property of Rohey Sowe.
He admitted guilt for breaking into the store but denied other allegations.
Meanwhile, Musa has also been charged with the alleged offense of breaking into the store of Rohey Sowe at KanifingSouth in February of this year. Prosecutors alleged that he stole six buckets of Armanti mayonnaise valued at D5,400.00, a Lutara-marked laptop valued at D1,320, clothes valued at D28,000, and a save containing D12,000. The save, according to court records, belonged to Rohey Sowe and Isatou Sowe.
Musa was meantime accused of stealing 30 air conditioners valued at D540,000, 20 wash-hand basins valued at D90,000, 12 gas cookers valued at D54,000, and 22 electrical heaters valued at D102,000. The alleged theft, according to a court document, happened in 2020 and the items were the property of one JahaliTouray .
He was granted bail in the sum of D370,000.
The case was then adjourned to 28 February 2023, for continuation.
