The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on Monday fined one Omar Lowe D10,000 for assaulting Alagie Ndure with a knife.
He was also ordered to pay a compensation of D10,000 to Omar.
Omar admitted guilt for stabbing Alagie with a knife on the arm thereby causing him actual bodily harm.
Narrating the facts of the matter, police prosecutor M. A. Jallow said the incident happened on 8 February 2024. He narrated that Omar, a taxi driver, parked his vehicle at the Old Jeshwang Car Park and was instructed by a man called Dampha to park the car properly but the prosecuting officer said instead of adhering to the instruction, Omar went on insulting the members of the garage, where he was not a registered member. Officer Jallow said the convict was later confronted by Alagie, who told him to stop insulting people, to which he gave a deaf ear. The prosecutor said Omar then pulled out a knife and stabbed Alagie on his left arm.
Upon his plea of guilty, Magistrate Ebrima Colley fined himD10,000.00 in default to serve two years in prison and he wasalso ordered to pay a compensation of D10,000.00 to Alagiein default to serve one year and six months imprisonment
