The Gambia Port Authority (GPA) sailed past the Banjul International Airport to stamp its authority as the highest tax-paying public enterprise for 2023.
Managing Director Ousman Jobarteh was on hand to receive the meritous award on behalf of the GPA. Mr. Jobartehwalked the red carpet to receive the applaudable award from the Gambian leader in a historic award ceremony on Saturday.
The GPA boss, who was among the high-level guests that turned out at Kairaba Beach Hotel on Saturday to witness the 2023 GRA Annual Award Ceremony, walked the red carpet in contentment and satisfaction to receive the creditable award, which evinces the many efficiency gains that the port has made under his watch.
The Banjul Port has been experiencing massive transformations in the areas of revenue performance, shipping infrastructure, technology among others.
The GRA’s highest tax-paying public enterprise award was in recognition of the significant slice of revenue that the GPA contributed to the State coffers, its positive impact on the socio-economic well-being of the population, and its exceptional willingness to observe tax laws.
The Commissioner General of the GRA, Mr. YankubaDarboe, once described the GPA as the brain of the GRA given the chunk of tax revenue it generated for the Authority.
