The current CEO of Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) Pa Sait Ceesay told the Local Government Commission of Inquiry (LGCI) early this week that when the screen of his laptop developed a problem in Janjanbureh, it was brought to Kombo and repaired at D18, 000.
Pa Sait Ceesay joined Janjanbureh Area Council (JAC) in 1993 as a revenue collector and in the subsequent years, he rose through the ranks to become the council’s finance director. Ceesay also served at Basse Area Council and MansakonkoArea Council.
In his testimony before the LGCI on Monday, Ceesay said he could recall the time when two new Dell laptop computers were purchased from Sahara Trading. He recollected that the laptops were later given to him and JAC’s director of finance for official use but said the screen of his laptop was broken after some time. Ceesay said the computer was, as a result, given to the council’s procurement clerk Mariatou Kandeh to take it to Sahara Trading for repair, adding that it was repaired at D18,000.
