Two teenagers were among five individuals, who were last week arrested, for allegedly being found in possession of suspected Kush and Cannabis Sativa, reported the Gambia’s anti-narcotics agency.
According to the Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG), a 13-year-old Brusubi Phase Two resident was on 7 March 2024, arrested by officers from the Anti-crime Unit of the Gambia Police Force with 27 wraps of suspected Kush concealed in white papers and tugged in a cigarette packet.
Elsewhere, a 15-year-old Guinean national was reportedly arrested by the Anti-crime Unit on 7 March 2024, with three wraps of suspected Kush.
DLEAG also reported that narcotics officers in the provincial town of Farafennni apprehended one Bamba Marong on 7 March 2024, with 15 wraps of suspected Kush.
Detectives meanwhile reportedly arrested Senegalese national Oumie Jobe alongside one Musa Nyang of Banjul and Alieu Bah of Bundung on 7 March 2024, at 21:00 onwards with 10 wraps of suspected Kush concealed in white papers and placed inside cement blocks.
The Gambia’s anti-narcotics agency also reported that a Guinean national Omar Saidy was on 8 March 2024, arrested at a checkpoint in Jenoi by detectives from the Lower River Region town of Soma with some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in two separate multi-colored bags placed inside a red backpack.
“All the suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue,” DLEAG said.
