Dresden-Banjul Organization has donated food items to its staff ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Dresden-Banjul is a registered non-governmental organization that focuses on the areas of health, education, and agriculture.
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the organization, Aaron Leng, said the food assistance was rendered to support staff during Ramadan.
“We are getting our funding from biannual auctions from vehicle sales to invest in health, education, and agricultural activities. We are currently having 50 staff members. Each of the staff is given a 50kg bag of rice and a 5 litre-gallon of cooking oil to reduce their expenditure in those areas during this month. Ramadan is one of the most expensive months in The Gambia. That’s why we chose to do this for them,” Mr Leng said.
Beneficiary Alieu Sanneh expressed appreciation to the organization for the food aid, saying it will go a long way in supporting them during Ramadan.
He urged the business community and the government to help the less privileged by reducing the prices of basic food commodities for low-income earners.
Another beneficiary Absa Nyang thanked her employers for the gesture.
