By Arret Jatta

The National Assembly Member for Bundungka KundaConstituency, Sulayman Jammeh handed over 26 taps and some football jerseys through the constituency development funds to the residents of Bundung on Sunday, March 10,2024at the Bundung Mosque.

Hon. Sulayman says the five hundred thousand (D500,000) constituency development funds are for the water and youth projects to empower youth through football.

He added that these 26 taps are given to the most vulnerable people in the constituency.

“Most of the family members who are going to benefit from this tap most of them are vulnerable and even if you go to their homes you will know that they are vulnerable, and we also have a policy, and the policy is we don’t want to see anybody to walk 150 meters to go and fetch water but we will ensure that the entire Bundung is covered,” he said.

He further emphasized the water shortage in Bundung and urged the service providers NAWEC to address this issue which he believes they are working on.

“We are trying to give access to clean drinking water to our people but the service provider is NAWEC and we are buying the service from NAWEC to give access to our people now it’s the responsibility of NAWEC to try and address this and so far so good they are trying to address. We are appealing to NAWEC for them to fast track the borehole they are building in Nema Su so that the problem of Bundung and the surrounding is addressed” he said.

Yankuba Jammeh, a resident of Bundung and a beneficiary thanked Hon. Sulayman for such an initiative.

“Water and tap in Bundung can be difficult to access but we thank him for this because he brought us closer to water and we all know how important water is in our lives,” he said.
