The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court Thursday ordered one Ebrima Sillah to pay a fine of
D50, 000 and a compensation of D30, 000 after he was found guilty of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
Mr. Sillah, a driver at Westfield Bakau Garage was said to have assaulted his fellow driver, Momodou Jallow by hitting him and breaking off three of his teeth.
Delivering the verdict, Magistrate Colley ruled that Sillahshould pay the fine in default he would serve 2 years in prison. Similarly, he was ordered to pay the compensation to the victim or he would serve an additional 1 year 6months in prison.
Meanwhile, the convict was sentenced based on his plea of guilt when the charge sheet was read out to him.
It was revealed that the incident happened on March 2ndthis year, when the victim was provoked by the accused and a fight ensued.
