The Africa Relief and Community Development, New Jersey in partnership with World Medical Relief through its office in The Gambia on Thursday supplied and donated over $1 million medical equipment, supplies, and furniture to hospitals, and primary clinics in remote areas to the Ministry of Health to help the poor and sick people.

The donation ceremony was held at the Gambia Supreme Islamic Council in MDI Road, Kanifing.

Among donated items included 2 X-Ray machines, 3 Dialysis machines, liquids, patient care items, orthopedics items, PC/Orthopedic, drainage/patient care items, patient care/surgery items, a series of furniture equipment, and lots more.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Ministry of Health was Musa Camara, the Regional Director of Health for Western One, he thanked Africa Relief and Community Development (ARCD) and its partner, World Medical Relief for this wonderful gesture.

The Regional Director noted that the machines and other items are very important to the Ministry and they will be put to good use by ensuring that “ordinary Gambians get the quality of services that we all yearn for as enshrined in the Sustainable Development Goals for health, which is health and well-being of our people.”

Once again, he thanked the donors saying good health and well-being of people cannot be attained without concerted efforts while hoping for continuous collaboration which will grow from strength to strength.

Abdou Loutif, ARCD Gambia Country Director thanked the Ministry of Health for the collaboration.

He noted that the recent donation is not the first time that ARCD through its Gambia office will donate to the health sector in the country as they made the last donation in January 2023 by donating over $1.5 million in medical equipment worth to the MOH.

Their gesture, he said, is not limited to only hospital equipment, he disclosed that they also engage in the construction of health facilities in different communities.

Meanwhile, he hoped this collaboration continued as this is certainly the beginning while thanking World Medical Relief for partnering with them in this process.
