4H Gambia a local NGO operating in Farafenni recently wrapped up its annual cluster general meetings for youth clubs in North Bank Region (NBR) and Central River Region (CRR). According to the Programme Director, the move is aimed at promoting good governance, transparency and accountability on the usage of funds for youth development.
The forum also provided opportunities for members to present annual plan of activities.
Speaking to VOICE at 4H Gambia Head Office in Farafenni, Alieu Ceesay 4H National Programme Director described the annual cluster general meetings as crucial, noting that it promote good governance and accountability on utilization of fund gears towards enhancing youths development and participation.
He noted that the outcomes of the cluster engagement as positive, citing cluster members are on top of key issues surrounding youths and women empowerment on income generation activities including small ruminants breeding.
Director Ceesay thanked 4H Norge in Sweden for their outstanding contributions in mobilization of resources towards strengthening youth’s capacity in promoting loan revolving schemes. These, he noted, contributed in diversification through advocating youths in entrepreneurship, poultry and animal breeding.
For his part, Musa Chaw Finance and Administrative Officer outlined the significance of annual cluster gathering, citing it help members to assess performance and together find out solutions to capacity gaps. Mr.Chaw hailed frontline extension workers and volunteers for their commitment and resolve in pushing the development agenda of youths. He noted that record keeping and reporting of financial transactions are key in promoting effective management.
