The Serekunda Police Division conducted a significant operation to decongest and maintain public spaces around the Serekunda Market and car parks on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
This operation, a continuation of the efforts initiated by “Operation Clear Roads,” aimed to address issues of overcrowding and maintain order in the area.
Personnel from the Police Intervention Unit (PIU), Serekunda Task Force, and senior command of Serekunda collaborated in clearing roads from the Serekunda Market four-road junction towards Jaiteh Kunda. Additionally, they cleared the area from the four-road junction towards the Y-junction along Serekunda Central Mosque.
The operation extended to the Serekunda Black Market and Serekunda-Brikama Car Park, where thorough raids were conducted. As a result, a total of 119 individuals were arrested and charged with various offenses.
At the Serekunda Police Station, all arrested individuals underwent screening. Subsequently, bail was granted to the majority, except for four individuals who did not meet the conditions for bail.
All arrested individuals will be processed through the courts for further action.
The Gambia Police Force reminds the public to adhere to the regulations, as such operations aim to maintain public order and ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
