Foday Jarra, a Senegalese National, was arraigned before magistrate K.B. Sambou of the Brikama Magistrates’ court for house breaking and stealing.
He contravened sections 281 (1)(a) and 252 of criminal codes cap 10:01 volume III Laws of the Gambia by ‘breaking into a house and stealing’.
The indictment stated that the accused broke into the house of Nyanya Bah in Gunjur village and stole a digital camera valued D5000.00, gold and silver bangles valued D5000.00 and an IPhone 7 plus valued D10,000.00.
The total monetary value of D20,000.00for the stolen items. The incident allegedly occurred on the 21st February, 2024, in Gunjur village.
The accused person denied responsibility for the charges.
Cadet ASP M. Jarju represented the prosecution, while the accused person was not represented by a lawyer.
The accused was granted bail in the sum of D30,000.00and a Gambian surety who shall deposit a sworn affidavit of means.
The case was then adjourned to the 15th of April for the beginning of the trial.
