Cabinet Reshuffle will not save Barrow Administration come 2026, says Politician

By: Nyima Sillah

Rights lawyer cum Politician, Assan Martin, has said that the recent cabinet reshuffle or subsequent ones will not save the Barrow administration from losing power come 2026 election.

He described the move as another display of confused administration with less regard for credibility.

“For some who are selling their souls for a position in the government the “dogo” “dogo” syndrome is a social problem. One cannot imagine moving old wines into new bottles. It is no pride and a good example for anyone seeking a job in a corrupt and broken system which mismanaged unaccounted wealth. We already knew the corrupt and poor governance system we Gambians are suffering from wasting national funds without limits,” Martin told The Voice in an interview following the recent cabinet reshuffle.

He hinted that incompetence and lackadaisical attitude in the country are the order of the day, arguing that they have caused so much damage in the country.

“The truth is Gambians must brace up and be ready to get rid of this culture of lavishness and corruption otherwise, Gambians have no one to blame but themselves,” he argues.

“We must remember that to change the government is not with emotions or insults. It takes real minds with proper organization and formula, inclusivity, with an independent national agenda,” Martin asserted.

The rights lawyer further stated that Barrow’s frequent Cabinet changes do not change anything about his poor governance record.

“All sorts of characters rushing to be so-called ministers/ directors is a cheap form of buying people who are unprincipled and have no integrity to serve President Barrow’s political circus,” he stated.

Martin further described the cabinet reshuffle as a change from better to worse, saying the demeanor and selfish characters of some people give a clear picture of their true color, adding watching their past videos depicts that they are not a bright example for the Gambian youth.
