GACH CEO Meets Top Meccan Imam

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the GACH Global Group was recently hosted by the Imam of Mecca, Abdul Rahman Ibn Abdul Aziz al-Sudais. 

Dr Abubakary Jawara who spends the whole month of Ramadan in the Holy City of Mecca was invited for Iftar by the respected Imam.

Imam Aziz al-Sudais is one of the nine Imams of the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. He is also the president of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques and a renowned Qāriʾ (reciter of the Qur’an).

Other leading Imams of Makkah include Sheikh Abdulla Awad Al-Jahny, Sheikh Bandar Bleela, and Sheikh Maher Bin Hamad Al-Mueaqley2. The Imams of Makkah are spiritual leaders and Quran reciters. 

In addition to leading the prayers in the Grand Mosque, the Imams of Makka have other responsibilities. Some of them serve as professors or judges (or both), are members of the Saudi Parliament (Majlis Ash-Shura) or Council of Ministers, and participate in international interfaith conferences.

They may also be involved in hosting esteemed visitors from other Muslim countries, serving the poor, facilitating educational programs, and recording recitations of the Quran for worldwide distribution. Several of the Imams also regularly give the sermon (khutbah) at Friday prayers. During Ramadan, the Imams rotate duties for the daily prayers and special evening (Taraweeh) prayers. The respected Imam took time to praise Dr Jawara’s philanthropic gestures in The Gambia, Africa and around the globe. Dr Jawaraalso used the opportunity to thank the Imam for his generosity and assured him that he (Jawara) will continue his humanitarian gestures in the Gambia and around the world. Jawara also urged the Imam to pray for the continued wellbeing of the Gambia and its people. 

During the Umra, Dr Jawara meets people from different works of life who praise and recognise his philanthropist work in the country, among them, one individual without hesitation took Dr Jawara’s hand sat him down, and started highlighting that they all knew what he (Jawara) was doing for the poor and the needy in the country.
