Lamin Islamic Development Association donates cash amount to two kabilos  in Lamin

Lamin Islamic Association on Sunday, 22nd April donated a cash amount of D250.000 to two ‘kabilos’ in Lamin.  

The financial support is meant to help the two kabilos(communities) to complete their under-construction mosques. In a breakdown of the donated amount, D75,000.00 was given to Lamin London Kabilo for the ongoing renovation of their mosque and D150,000.00 to Lamin Sanchaba for their ongoing mosque construction. 

Speaking at ceremonies, Yahya Manneh, Secretary General of the Lamin Islamic Association said the association was formed to support and participate in Islamic developments in Lamin. 

The association, he disclosed, gained its finance through donations made by residents of Lamin and the people of Lamin village in the diaspora.

According to him, the association through the members’ promises made and other support from Islamic philosophers they were able to build the Lamin Central Mosque, a mortuary valued at around D1 million last year. 

SG Manneh highlighted the plan of the association regarding monthly salaries for all the Imams within Lamin and also controlling the graveyards and the Eid praying ground to stop animal and other encroachment at the places.

He urged residents of Lamin to join the association for the development of Islamic places in Lamin and The Gambia at large.

The Imams in Lamin thanked the association for coming out with the great gesture while praying to Almighty Allah to bless their efforts. 

On behalf of the Lamin Village Development Committee(VDC), Jammeh Bojang assured the association of their support and thanked them for their support.

Omar Touray, on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the association and the Islamic philosophers for the financial support and prayed that Allah should continue to bless them. 

Lamin Islamic Development Association was formed in 2022 to create a platform with the solid aims for the Muslims of Lamin to actively participate and support Islamic development initiatives of the town at the grassroots level.
