Sami Tenda Lower Basic School of Upper Nuimi has launched passionate appeal to Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education MoBSE and development partners for support towards fixing of its destroyed building.
According to the Head teacher of the school, Senghore Mendy, the staff quarter’s roof was blown off on July 7, 2021 and therefore need rehabilitation. The quarter houses 3 staffmembers including the head teacher.
The school was established in September 2014 and MoBSE constructed ECD block to help promote early education.
The head teacher expressed concern over the delay in fixing of the roof, noting that staff experience accommodation challenges and therefore the delay from Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education MoBSE affected the safety of his staff.
Mr. Mendy said the timely intervention of government and development partners would go a long way in creating conducive environment for the staff of the school with enrolment of 100 students, 53 boys and 47 girls.
He said the school lacked most essential things including a borehole, as students use the only hand pump; no standard kitchen, limited community participation to supplement school feeding provided by CRS.
