Baboucarr Jeng, a politician and one of theparticipants at the OIC summit has extolled President Barrow for successfully hosting the OIC summit during his tenure.
He described the summit as “exceptional” and the greatest thing that ever happened to The Gambia.
“The summit went well. When it comes to organization, it was well-organized because there is nothing 100% in life and you cannot have all-inclusive like they want. But the organization was exceptional and one can’tcomplain,” Jeng told The Voice in an interview.
He stated that he would give credit to the President for being the brain behind the summit agenda, and for doing an incredible job by hosting the summit in the country together with his ministers.
“Let’s put politics aside, he has a busy schedule and he doesn’t have only OIC on his desk but still gives it a priority,” he remarked.
Commenting further on the summit, Jengexplained that there were meetings that were held at the summit like the foreign ministers meeting and a couple of other meetings, adding that all meetings bring so many benefits to the host country.
Jeng who is also a former presidential aspirant and a renowned politician also described the summit as the backbone of the country which comes with various benefits as everyone is crying when it comes to the necessities but the solutions have been crafted.
“I was a participant in the trade and investment meeting. This was the first time where investors meet the locals, that are the private sector and the public sector, in one platform interacting,” he asserted.
He explained that the first day they met and discussed problems that were affecting the people including the relevant stakeholders on the ground, things were outlined and the next day they went on a tour to visit so many areas like the health sector, transportation etc.
“I believe if we work hard, we will take things to another level. We are on the right track! I believe in the near future, Gambia will be a hub where the whole of Africa would want to visit,” Jeng contended.
According to him, the OIC has a special target because is an organization that focuses on theMuslim ummah and with all the fifty seven member states they come together every couple of years and hold a summit in a certain country and The Gambia happens to be the lucky one, adding for the next 2-3yrs, President Barrow will be the Chairman of the organization
