Cashup Opens New Branch in Brikama

Cashup Company Ltd. recently inaugurated its branch in Brikama nearly two year after the financial technology company was incorporated.

HiooooooThe company was incorporated in The Gambia on 14 June 2022 with the accreditation of the Central Bank of The Gambia as a mobile payment and transfer service provider.

In his inaugural speech, the Managing Director of Cashup, Ebrima Jammeh, said the company is operated in line with the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS) with the aim of providing access and usage of quality and affordable financial services that will reduce poverty and increase inclusive growth and development.


“Cashup aims to better the lives of the people through innovative and easy payment solutions, safe deposits, withdrawals, and transfers. The company has developed three distinct e-wallet applications namely the Cashupwallet (customer wallet), Cashup agent (Agent app), and Cashup business (the merchant app). These applications combined will enable the customer, business, and agent to transact easily,” he said.

The company, according to Mr. Jammeh, is in the business to serve the daily banking needs of its customers throughout the country.

“Cashup agent app is designed to create links between our merchants and customers. Cashup business enables merchants to receive payment of their goods and services with ease and efficiency. This mitigates fraud and the cost of handling physical cash,” he clarified.
Meanwhile, Cash-up has signed an MoU with the BrikamaSports Committee and the agreement will enable the sport committee to purchase tickets and make other payments during football match.

The Governor of the West Coast Region, Ousman Bojang, appealed to the company to explore the opportunity as the population of the region can surely boost its financial strength in the market.
“If you look at our population, we are actually about to market everything that comes to Brikama. Your working relationship with the Central Bank has opened a stable ground for you to facilitate such an important crusade. Accountability and transparency are important in all we do. The Brikama Sports Committee needs to show transparency using the cashup application,” he advised.Cashup is founded by a Gunjur-born Ebrima Jammeh.
