A fuel station in Barra in the North Bank Region (NBR) was last week attacked by unidentified people, dependable sources informed The Voice.
The police have arrested the station’s security as they opened an investigation into the matter, our sources said.
“Unidentified individuals attacked the fuelstation of Kabiro Camara in Barra last week and made away with over D65, 000. They also vandalized the pump to siphon fuel from the tank,” one of the sources explained.
“The fuel station’s watchman was invited to the Barra police station and detained there in connection with the reported attack,” the source added.
Meanwhile, the alleged attack happened at a time when the villages of Barra, Mayamba, and Essau in the Lower Niumi district in the NBR were reportedly experiencing an uptick in crime.
Elsewhere in the NBR, the border communities of Central Baddibu have been reportedly experiencing a spate of armed robberies in recent times.
