The Mayor of Banjul, Rohey Malick Lowe, capitalized on the 2026 4GameChanger Festival in Austria to hold an engaging discussion on Europe-Africa relations, especially in the area of gender equality.
The Banjul Mayor last week led immersivediscussions in Vienna on empowering women and youths, especially in the domain of agriculture.
“I am particularly excited to see how organizations with financial muscles and capacity came into agreement to support my point of view and agree to partner with us,” the Banjul mayor said in a write-up shared by this reporter.
Meanwhile, Mayor Lowe disclosed on Friday that Banjul has been inducted into The Institute of the Regions of Europe.
“I am also happy to announce that Banjul is now a member of The Institute of the Regions of Europe after months of discussions and lobbying,” she stated.
“This membership will open more doors for development projects to flow into our city. Banjul is the first African city to be accepted and [the Institute] also waived her contribution with the understanding that the council is going through some challenges at the moment,” Mayor Lowe added.
She thanked the President of the Institute of Regions of Europe and his management for the hospitality and for having confidence in Banjul.
