Bakary Saidyba on Monday appeared before Principal Magistrate Isatou Mbaye Sallah at KanifingMagistrates’ Court charged with rape.According to the charge sheet Bakary Saidybasometime in April 2024, at Senegambia and diverse places intentionally and unlawfully engaged in sexual intercourse with an eight-year-old girl name (withheld).
Meanwhile, prosecutor Chief Inspector Inna Jallowtold the court that the offense charged attracts a punishment of life imprisonment and therefore applied for the matter to be transferred to the High Court since the magistrate court lacked jurisdiction to proceed with the case and remand the accused at Mile 2 Central prison.
Magistrate Isatou Sallah Mbaye accordingly granted the application made by the prosecution and the matter has been transferred while the accused has been remanded at Mile Two.
