Mayor Bensouda Welcomes Special Guests From Senegal & Austria.

The Mayor of Kanifing Municipality (KMC), Talib Ahmad Bensouda last week welcomed the Mayor of Parcelle, Djmail Sane from Senegal and the President of the Vienna Assembly, accompanied by Mrs Ursula Fahringer, the Ambassador of Austria in Dakar.

 Accorded with tumultuous welcome, Mayor Bensouda said the visit would boost up the existing bilateral relationship between the two countries.

 “There is a lot we can partner with the city of Vienna, and we hope that this visit can bring about a lot of fruitful things, a lot of benefits for both parties because KMC likes partnerships that is a mutual beneficial,” he stated.

 Mayor Bensouda also expressed interest in having an official relationship with Senegal through the Mayor of Parcelle.

 “We will love to have an official relationship with Parcelle. Parcelle and KMC are having exchanges, but it’s very personalised, it’s because of the friendship I’ve developed with Djamil (the mayor of Parcelle) we want that relationship to now be official, so that whenever we are gone, this relationship will continue to bear fruit”, he expressed.

 Djamil Sane, the Mayor of Parcelle also expressed his interest in having a strong partnership with KMC. 

 “When the President of Vienna assembly is here it’s because when I went there last year I persuaded him to come to Senegal because he has never been to Africa, and I cannot let him come to Senegal without visiting the Gambia as well because I and the mayor of KMC have a good relationship and it’s important for all countries to benefit from the partnership”.

 Ernst Woller, the President of Vienna Assembly also expressed appreciation for the rapid development the country is witnessing and appealed for collaboration in order to address some of the challenges through partnership.

 “It’s important to have relationships and it’s important to know each other, every country has its own challenges, but we have the same aim which is to make the lives of people better and to live in peace together,” he concluded.
