‘Heroes Awards’ Due on Saturday

The Heroes Awards, an event that recognizes the contribution and dedication of Gambians in various facets of works, is scheduled for this coming weekend.

The event was initiated by Fatou Camara, a renowned Gambian journalist and proprietressof The Fatu Network online medium.

Candidates are nominated in various categories of commitment. The Person of the Year category: Yankuba Darboe (CG GRA), Professor Pierre Gomez (Higher education minister), and Aji Amie Jatta are shortlisted.

Exemplary youth has seen Binta Njie (former police PRO), Jainaba Sonko, and Basiru Jaye.

The philanthropist award category has FABB Foundation, Hamidu Jah, and Caring 4 Mobility shortlisted.

Agriculture leadership, the final nominees are:Berefet Women’s Garden, Radville Farms, and Muhammed Sanyang.

Health servant of the year has nominated:Bintou Trawally, Dr. John Nute Jabang and Dr. Mustapha Bittaye.

MRC Holland Foundation, Lamin MB Jaiteh, and Cecilia Baldeh are nominated for education price for the excellence category.

The green award nomination category has Gambia Environmental Alliance, Samba Faye and Gunjur Conservation, and Ecotourism Association (CETAG).

The trailblazer category has Babucarr Sanneh, Bintou Sanneh, and Gaira Lamin. The diaspora engagement categories nominated Pa OusmanJoof, Join Hands to Save a Baby, and YahyaSonko in that category.

The shortlisted candidates are nominated by Gambians for the groundbreaking efforts made by these contributing nationalists. They will go through screening by a panel of judges at a gala dinner to be hosted at the Sir Dawda KairabaJawara International Conference Centre.

Entertainment would be provided by both national and international artists. YoussouN’dour from Senegal, Bembaye Jazz National, and Grand P of Guinea. Gambian artists, including ST Brikama Boyo, Attack, Awa Gambia, and Miss Jobiz, are all set to graze the occasion.

The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Madam Jabbie-Bio, Guinea’s culture minister, and other international dignitaries are expected to attend the fourth edition of Heroes Awards.
