KM Tailors’ Association Gifted NAMS Attires

By: Fatoumatta J Camara

The KM Tailors’ Association on Tuesday gifted locally-made attires to the National Assembly Members (NAM) in the Kanifing administrative area.

The presentation was held at the Pipeline Offices of the National Center for Arts and Culture, where the association is headquartered.

In his address at the presentation ceremony, Abdou JlandSamura, the secretary of the KM Tailors’ Association stated that the regional tailors’ association is a committed group of skilled tailors aiming to bolster economic growth and combat unemployment by supporting them in capacity-building, amplifying their impact on the global market, aligning with government efforts.

“Our expertise and dedication promise to enhance our economy, instigate job creation, and fortify our competitive edge in the global economic landscape,” he added.

Mr. Samura pointed out that the National Assembly can help his association in several ways to support and promote the interests of the tailors in the region through advocacy and representation.

“The National Assembly can serve as a platform for the tailors’ association to raise their concerns, advocate for their needs, and represent their interests at the national level. The National Assembly can introduce and pass legislation that benefits the tailors’ association such as laws that promote the growth of the textile industry, regulate the market, or provide financial assistance to small businesses and also help the tailors’ association to establish connections with other stakeholders such as government agencies, businesses and NGOs to foster collaboration and partnerships that benefit the tailors.

The NAM for Serekunda West Madi Ceesay emphasized that the association’s secretary general has itemized relevant points and they will also see how best they can help them in the demands they outlined during the gathering.

“We have ministries that are responsible for tertiary education thus are the people that have to push the idea to find a way of integrating their ideas into the educational system.  If it reaches the Parliament, we will make efforts to help actualize your aims,” he added.

NAM for Bundung Sulayman Jammeh thanked the KM Tailors’ Association for bringing together the NAMS. He explained that legislators are in the Parliament to represent the people and to respond to their needs.
